This piece of art took me an average amount of time for an art piece. Roughly 4 to 5 hours in total in a 40 minute period in the morning and after school on Wednesdays.
I first started off with a picture I had in mind, I sketched it in my sketchbook, then made a cleaner one. My teacher scanned in on the computer onto a USB, I then opened it into the Microsoft Surface Pro.
The program I used was Corel Painter 2017, with an extreme variety of brushes. I mostly stuck to oil brushes and detail brushes. I also used roughly 12 to 17 layers.
I colored in the image with a base color for each part of her. In many new layers, I worked on her eyes, eyebrows, lips, hair, contour, and shading. After I finished with the full drawing of her, I then added a new layer, over the rest, and tried different brushes for the background until I was satisfied, I then turned down the opacity and erased everything I did not want in that area.
I named the piece after the famous 90’s vibrant ‘Solo Jazz Cups’, known well in pop culture.
