The concept for our PSA project for STLP, “Think Before You Post,” was developed after we preformed research on the effects of negative social media use on teenagers. Oversharing on social media is an epidemic that haunts the youth through their adolescence. One wrong decision made by a teenager can come back to harm their future. This is a message that our team feels is relevant and deserves to be communicated to our peers.
We began our production process by writing a script, and decided what we would use to film. We decided that in spirit of our "social media," theme, our footage would be shot on an iPhone XR, with screen recordings from different media sites implemented into out PSA. Our idea was to express the negative effects social media can have, by showing firsthand interactions that can be made with the sites.
Once we had all of our images and footage complied, we used the app "Splice," to organize them into a cohesive video clip. Using the app, we also added a royalty free music sound offered in-app, and we preformed a voice over to accompany the visuals.
