Thursday, May 14th - Virtual Prom Party Pick Up: Mrs. Workman and Mrs. Brandenburg have created a virtual prom package for all seniors. You can pick up those at the high school between the times of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. You should have received an email from our prom coordinators with details about your virtual prom packages.
*Beta Club Stoles, College and Career Patches will also be ready for pick up during that time. Hopefully your FFA cords will be in by this time also.
Note: Scheduling for your Cap and Gown pictures is in progress. We will send out that information as soon as it is available.
Friday, May 15th - Individual Senior Yard Signs- you were asked to send in a picture for your individual yard signs. We will be placing these signs with your pictures throughout the town of Owingsville so that they will be out for our community to see during the Community Cruise-In night.
Friday, May 15th - Senior Cruise-In night Sponsored by the City of Owingsville. The BCHS Class of 2020 has been asked to lead the "Cruise-In" event. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm. Information about this event has been posted on the school's Facebook page.
Saturday, May 23rd - Senior Breakfast and Parade: Your breakfast will be catered by Cracker Barrel beginning at 9:00 am. Report to the school's student parking lot at 9:00 am to pick up your meal and goody bag. We are going to set up tables in different locations on our campus to meet the same requirements as restaurants have to observe beginning May 22nd. Hopefully that will give you a chance to see some of your fellow classmates and enjoy your Senior Breakfast with them!
You will receive your Senior Goody bags on this day also!
Senior parade (pending final approval from the state) to begin at 11:00 am following your breakfast. Seniors are encouraged to ride in convertibles, in the back of trucks, or just with their windows down in your cap and gown so that people parked throughout Owingsville can see our Class of 2020. You can decorate your car with appropriate signs; decorate your cap (once again please make it appropriate). We will be asking the faculty/staff of the buildings "on the hill" to park in the parking lots of their schools to see you drive by (in place of our annual senior walks of the schools).
In-Person Graduation Ceremony- July 2020- Your class voted to postpone graduation with the hopes that the restrictions on gathering are lifted or eased. An in-person graduation ceremony will be planned for July. More information to come!
Virtual Graduation (End of May)- your second choice was a virtual graduation. By the end of this month we will have a virtual graduation program recognizing each senior and their future plans that will be shared with our seniors and our community.
Senior Honors Video- Mrs Porter organizes the Senior Honors Night each year in which our students are presented with scholarships and various awards and recognitions. Since several scholarships had deadlines of last week (and even this week), she is working on getting confirmation of awards from LOTS of different organizations and schools. We hope to have this ready for publication by the end of the month also. Be sure to check your messages on Remind from Mrs. Porter or contact her if you have any questions or need to provide any information about scholarships you may be awarded.
If you have not already done so, please send Mrs. Erwin how you would want your name read at graduation (and how you want it to appear on our virtual graduation video) and your future plans. See email sent to seniors on May 9th by Mrs. Erwin.
Seniors- Now that we have come to the end of our instructional days for the 2019-20 school year, it really hits home just how much we miss you! You have had to miss out on so many of your rites of passage that you have earned, for no fault of your own! I know the things we have scheduled for the end of the year activities can never take the place for what you have given up. Please know you will always hold a special place in our heart because of your sacrifice. You are such a great group of students that deserve so much more than our circumstances allow!
The best part of our jobs is being able to complete this journey we started with all of you four years ago! Seeing you look so handsome/beautiful at your prom; enjoying your After Prom Party; watching you compete in state/national club conventions; seeing you at your senior picnic; watching you take your last walk as a class through the halls of BCHS; watching you accepting your scholarships and various other awards; looking out at you as a group setting together at your graduation; watching you walk across the stage to receive your diploma; and assembling together once last time as OUR students as you toss your hats in the air -is the best rewards we can have as a faculty/staff. No matter what we do to try to take the place of these activities it will never be enough. You will always be the class that will be 'unfinished" in our hearts and minds.
In our thoughts and prayers!
With Love, Melanie Erwin and the faculty and staff of BCHS!
