Principal's Message

Melanie Erwin

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Bath County High School, we want to welcome our students, parents, and community to a new school year.  We are excited to welcome the Class of 2022 to our school and look forward to seeing our returning students.  We also look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of the BCHS Senior Class of 2019 as they complete their last step before they go their separate paths.

On April 22, 2018, our school lost a precious member of our family with the passing of Charley Lyons.  As we mourned the loss of our precious friend, colleague, teacher, and mentor we knew our school would never be the same.  We then became determined to make sure that his memory and legacy would live on in the heart of our school.

The theme of the 2018-19 school year is “Go the extra mile!” in loving memory of Mr. Lyons. Anyone that knew Mr. Lyons knew that he had a heart of gold and lived to help others. He once shared that everyone deserves someone to go the “extra mile for them”.  In memory of Mr. Lyons we ask all BCHS Stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, and community partners) to accept the #LYONSHEART CHALLENGE and go the extra mile!

The #LyonsHeart Challenge asks you to “go the extra mile” for others that may be in need.  This could be something as simply introducing yourself to new students at BCHS or writing notes of thanks to your teachers/friends. You can also decide to do something bigger like organizing a food drive or volunteering to implement an Anti-Bullying program for our school.  Mr. Lyons showed us that one person can make a difference.  Please join us in accepting this challenge to keep the legacy of Charley Lyons alive at BCHS.  More information on the #LyonsHeart challenge to come.

We hope the 2018-19 school year is full of wonderful learning experiences, fond memories, and exciting opportunities for our students.
